Why we run this

CamVision Education is a London-based education company founded in 2015. Our network of Oxbridge-educated tutors and Cambridge academics covers almost every subject, and has helped more than a hundred students win places at Oxford and Cambridge.

We want every able student to be able to talk directly with Oxbridge tutors and get expert interview guidance, whatever their family's financial circumstances. The programme is open to students worldwide, so applicants from different regions and backgrounds meet, share ideas and learn from one another.

What an Oxbridge interview looks for

It is not about how much you have memorised. It is about how you think, and how you explain it.

  • 01

    Academic potential

Applying what you know to a problem you have not seen before.

  • 02

    Critical thinking

Clarifying the question, testing assumptions, comparing ideas.

  • 03

    Passion for the subject

    Genuine interest and independent exploration.

  • 04

    Academic expression

Precise vocabulary and clear reasoning, out loud.

  • 05

    Initiative

Being willing to try, even under pressure.

01 Part one

Part one: free sessions, open to everyone

Open to students, parents and counsellors, including students applying in future years. All sessions are online. Dates and times are emailed after registration.

Interview skills session

Online group · 1 hour

How the interview works and what interviewers look for, led by Dr Mengmeng Wang-Purcell and an academic specialist with a similar background. Relevant to every subject.

Live mock interview demonstrations

Online · 1 hour per subject

An Oxbridge subject specialist interviews a student volunteer live and gives feedback on the spot. Everyone else watches and can ask questions afterwards.

Subjects include Physics, Engineering, Natural Sciences, Maths, Computer Science, Economics, HSPS, Law, Philosophy, Education and more.

Volunteer for a live mock interview. Students can sign up as a volunteer when they register. We choose one volunteer per subject for a 20–30 minute mock interview with an Oxbridge tutor, followed by live feedback.

02 Part two

Part two: fully funded one-to-one scholarships

For particularly strong students who receive an interview invitation. There are no fees for students, families or schools.

  • 20 places worldwide, offered on a rolling basis and on academic merit, so we encourage students to apply early.
  • Once interview invitations arrive, each school's counsellor can recommend up to two students who ticked the scholarship box when they registered.
  • A recommendation does not guarantee a place. Open to all subjects.

Each scholarship includes:

General interview

One-to-one · 30 minutes

Explaining academic interests, discussing the personal statement in depth and handling follow-up questions.

Subject mock interviews

One-to-one · two or more × 30 minutes

A realistic subject interview: the tutor probes and challenges, then gives detailed feedback and what to practise next.

Who teaches

Dr Mengmeng Wang-Purcell

Dr Mengmeng Wang-Purcell, Founder and Academic Lead, has been at Cambridge for over 20 years. She studied Engineering from undergraduate to PhD, then taught in the Engineering and Chemical Engineering departments, and has previously served as an interviewer for Engineering at the University of Cambridge.

Subject sessions are delivered by academic specialists across STEM, humanities and social sciences, who have studied or taught at the University of Cambridge or other leading UK universities. Our wider team includes former admissions staff and Oxbridge graduates.

How it works

  1. Register.

Students, parents and counsellors use the same form. Students enter their school and, if they have one, their counsellor's name, and tick the box if they want to be considered for a scholarship.

  2. We share the list.

We send each counsellor the list of students from their school who opted in.

  3. Your counsellor recommends.

Once invitations arrive, counsellors recommend up to two students per school. We confirm places on a rolling basis.

Students without a school counsellor can still register and tick the scholarship box. We will consider them for a scholarship place as well.
